You may want to take a look at Forensic Toolkit® (FTK™) version 1.81.6 which can be downloaded from the same place you download FTK Imager. You can use the software free of charge for cases less than 4000 records.

PeterPeter Chanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07078332285149880513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162823619205992594.post-7878640973313444592011-02-16T13:38:19.657+00:002011-02-16T13:38:19.657+00:00Hi Peter, I found the free version of FTK Imager (...Hi Peter, I found the free version of FTK Imager (FTK Imager Lite) extremely useful to package up digital archives for transfer. Of course, it does not have the full functionality of the complete package, but does a perfectly good job of creating a manifest, imaging a directory or specific folders, & generating and checking sums. I imported the CSV files into Excel for further manipulation. An added advantage is that it can be downloaded and run directly from a portable USB drive, so the archivist can collect the digital files without having to install software on the creator's system. It can be downloaded from http://accessdata.com/support/adownloads Documentation isn't great, but I more or less picked up how it worked in an afternoon and wrote my own manual for archivists using the software afterwards.Alexandrahttp://80gb.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162823619205992594.post-77168245248266207572010-12-06T19:34:25.705+00:002010-12-06T19:34:25.705+00:00Matt, the implementation issues with Rails were mi...Matt, the implementation issues with Rails were minor and not related to REST-ful behavior. WEBrick (the Ruby development web server) is not suited to forking processes, unlike Apache. Using an exec was a fine workaround for WEBrick's limitation.

Rubymatica and SIP creation in general has one or two states, therefore REST isn't much of an issue.

Rails can be fairly simple, and I was able to keep the architecture of Rubymatica quite simple. In the long term, the core Rubymatica classes will be integrated into a Hydra head, so the current Rails application is a crude, temporary bridge.Tom Laudemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14665950438722237174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162823619205992594.post-23712864526041767042010-12-03T20:19:23.526+00:002010-12-03T20:19:23.526+00:00Tom, this is great work.
